Banka: Tour and Fishing – Tatay Rick

Tatay Rick has been fishing for more than 40 years now at Laguna de Bay. He followed the footsteps of his father and started fishing when he was 12 years old. To sustain his family’s life as a fisherman, he said he had to work as a laborer for construction sites when fishing is out of season. At day time, he would rent out his banka for tour, and at night, he would go out fishing with other fishermen of San Vicente. Tatay Rick is a Filipino fisherman representing the resilience of the Filipino people. He said “Filipino pa, surviving.”

  1. Hi Alex. If you want to fish around Laguna de Bay, I suggest you look for fisherfolk in Laguna province. They are closer to the bay itself and their main livelihood is fishing. You can try Lumban, Kalayaan, Paete, Pakil towns.

  2. Hello Kathleen, I came across your webpage as I was searching for banka for rent to go fishing. Sir tatay rick is amazing but I am not keen on fishing in Laguna de bay area.

Do you know of other banka owners who have good experience in deep sea fishing in other parts of the Philippines. I am from Canada and would love to hire a good banka operator. So far I have fished in Palawan and Coron areas but would like to explore other deep sea fishing grounds.

Great if you are able to refer to someone. If not, no worries. I wish you a happy Monday.

    Salamat

    Alex
