Dumagats of Dingalan celebrate first “Adow ne Domaget”
The first festival of the Dumagats of Dingalan was held last May 28- 29, 2018 at Sitio Cabog, Barangay Matawe, Dingalan, Aurora. The festival gathered around 250 participants from the five barangay settlements: Dikapanikian, Caragsacan, Matawe, Ibona, and Umiray. It was organized by the Pasulosagkaden ah Kinasigepoan ne Domaget (Council of Dumagat Culture) in partnership with Aurora Artist Residency Program and Space (AARPS) and the Municipality of Dingalan Aurora. It was also held in cooperation with the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), the Management and Organizational Development thru Empowerment Inc. (MODE) and Greenlight Children’s Academy.
The festival had a theme of “Pagkilala, Pagkikilanlanan, Pagpapakilala” that celebrated the Dumagat culture, educated younger Dumagats of their traditions and discussed issues of Dumagat communities. The two-day event highlighted the competition of traditional games and a public meeting (Pasorotsorotan) about current issues faced by the communities.
